Are You Ready to Become a Yoga Teacher?

Many training programs have minimum requirements for prospective trainees. These vary from program to program but typically include a recommendation that you have practiced for several years and have taken some classes with the teacher with whom you propose to train. Some students who love yoga and are unfulfilled by their day jobs hope that becoming a yoga teacher will offer them a way out of their job situations. Although things sometimes work out this way, be forewarned that most yoga teachers do not make a lot of money.

What is a Registered Yoga Teacher?

In the United States, teacher-training programs that meet certain standards are registered by the Yoga Alliance, a nationally recognized organization. There are two levels of Yoga Alliance certificates- 200 Hour and 500 Hour, referring to the length of the program. Trainees first complete a 200-Hour program, which we are require as the minimum training for the teachers. Some teachers then choose to continue their studies by undertaking a 500-Hour training.

The Theory And Practice Of Yoga

The 200-Hour yoga teacher training program will deepen and build your personal practice as you embark on a transformational journey toward becoming a yoga teacher. To facilitate a more scientific understanding of the body, you will study functional Anatomy, as well as the physiology of inversions, breathing and the nervous system. Moving beyond the physical, you will learn yoga philosophy, rooted in the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali. Finally, you will begin to learn the fundamentals of meditation, Pranayama, Ayurveda,Healing and the chakra system.

Our yoga teacher training programs are aimed at developing teachers who encourage and inspire, who demonstrate sensitivity to the needs of individuals as well as the group. Build the foundation to teach skillfully – with compassion, integrity and safety – as you discover your own unique voice and style.

Students who complete the 200-Hour Teacher Training program will:
